Unpiano
Books is an independent book publisher based out of San
Francisco. We seek to support and promote emerging local artists
and photographers by publishing their work in small run releases,
and providing them with an opportunity to give their work a wider
audience. Due to the lack of resources for artists in the publishing
market and the rising cost of supplies for those who operate independently,
Unpiano Books was started in June 2009 as a means to provide those
same resources to the Bay Area art community. Their books give special
emphasis to quality and the ability to give the artists a central
role in the production of each and every title. Titles are published
throughout the year in keeping with an ongoing release schedule of national and Bay
Area artists. |
Jesse
Pollock
is originally from the greater Boston area and came to San Francisco
roughly ten years ago. For the last four or five years, he has
worked in many different facets throughout the local arts community.
He started his work at the arts-based website Fecal
Face Dot Com where he served as Managing Editor and then as
a Senior Contributor before stepping down to pursue his current
publishing project. Simultaneously, he also worked within the
photography collective Hamburger
Eyes as a Fund-Raiser and Grant Writer. His background in
publishing began through his photo-zines Catch A Bad One,
Girls, Angle, Guys and Hotel Party - all of which are still in circulation nationwide.
An avid photographer himself, he is still a regular contributor
to various arts publications around the country and has some planned
releases for the upcoming year. His photographs, as well as his
long-running music blog, can be found at Unpiano.
